Halton Families for Families is a Trillium-funded collaborative engaging families since February 2012 who have been impacted by a child/youth’s mental health challenges. A panel of family members will share how they have been positively impacted by this initiative and how participants can create meaningful parent-professional partnerships in their own communities.

Objectives

• Participants will learn about the successes and lessons learned from the Halton Family Engagement Initiative. • Participants will learn concrete steps and processes recommended to begin a similar initiative in their own community and how they can be a champion for family engagement. • Participants will hear directly from families about how family engagement has had a positive impact on their lives and how their involvement has changed their relationship with service providers and the system. • Participants will realize the importance of partnering with family members and developing parent-professional partnerships within their agencies and communities.
